The principal collection of Fry holographs and manuscripts is in the collection of The Library Company of Philadelphia (abbreviated below as LCP) which is in the possession of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. The collection which amounts to 18.5 linear feet of manuscripts was donated to the library by his brother Edward P. Fry. The collection is described in William Treat Upton, The Musical Works of William Henry Fry in the collections of The Library Company of Philadelphia (Philadelphia: The Free Library of Philadelphia, 1946) which can be viewed at Google Books. As of 2010 neither the Library's nor the Society's website, online catalog, or any online finding aids document the Fry collection. Biographical information about Fry is available in William Treat Upton, William Henry Fry: American Composer and Journalist-Critic (New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Co., 1954) which is available at Archive.org. Upton's 1946 guide to the Fry collection is included as an appendix in this volume. At least six of Fry's works for orchestra are available from the Edwin A. Fleisher Collection at the Free Libary of Philadelphia and are noted below.
