History

This music publishing company was founded in 1928 by Henri Elkan (1897-1980) and Adolph Vogel (1893-1981) in Philadelphia. One year later, Bernhard Kohn came to the firm as an additional partner. When Elkan left the company in 1952, Vincent Persichetti (1915-1987) was made new director of publications at Elkan-Vogel. The Theodore Presser Company acquired the company in 1970 and relocated it to Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
